Hello My lovelies,
Hopefully you are fully recovered and returning from your various end of summer activities…burning man, water wimmen, women’s herbal symposium or just a long weekend at home. We are in full harvest in real tim and meta time. The dehydrator is running 24/7 with apples, pears, fruit leathers and tomatoes. I have been steam juicing elderberries and grapes, canning apple sauce and apple butter and making fabulous salads from the garden. Such fun. I am also harvesting my last 12 years on 60th Street as an offer has been accepted on my house and I hope to turn that into more land and farm and a lighter load into the future. In the midst of planning a big complicated move with dogs and cats and rabbits and birds and a whole giant collection of roses and dahlias I have hobbled together a season of classes for you all. Please come! There are also a couple open house events. October 1st I will have a morning social (coffee & tea provided, please bring pastries, fruit or other easy breakfast items) with garage sale/giveaway and I will also be here for a one day Winter Open House in December, location TBA.

NOTHING’S OFFICIAL, BUT ONWARD WE GO!
I am in escrow on a property in Oregon, but it is not officIal yet, and the transaction has been more complicated than I like so I cannot and will not breathe out or accept official congrats until the papers have been signed and money has changed hands. Also not an official transfer of hands yet, but this Fall I will be working with Becca Wetherby on a trial basis to potentially take over both the admin side of the Institute and teach a good portion of the classes. She will be teaching some great new classes as part of this trial period, so please check out her offerings and let me know what you think! I will be teaching on 60th Street through the end of September. After that I will be teaching and holding my Winter Open house at other locations. Into the future I plan to come to Oakland at least once a season to teach.

SEEKING A FEW GOOD LOCATIONS
I am looking for a few good homes/gardens to choose from to hold classes after October 24th this Autumn and into the future. Are you interested in hosting? We can work out payment or barter depending on what works for you. The ideal home will be centrally located, comfortable and clean and have a kitchen and adjoining living room or dining room that can comfortably hold 10-15 people with enough chairs around for that many people as well. Gas stove preferred for kitchen classes.

CLASSES ADDED!
I have worked on the Fall schedule a bit more since August 15. The following classes have been added: The Whole Pig, Made With Masa, Animal First Aide For the Urban Homestead, Seaweed for Food & Health, Felting Winter Scarves, No-Knead Artisan Bread Making. Everything should be up to date on the website and calendar as well.
