In this Zoom based 3 segment mini-intensive we’ll learn how to make bath and body products from accessible ingredients. Gather your ingredients ahead of time and follow along at home.
Tinctures, Salves & Lip Balm
This session offers an overview of different herbal products that can be easily made at home including salves, slathers, tinctures, teas, poultices and decoctions. We’ll learn a little about sourcing herbs –buying, wildcrafting and growing your own and good books for getting started learning which plants for what. Then we’ll learn folk method processes for making tinctures, salves & lip balm. Supply list will be provided if you want to gather and follow along at home. Handout and recipes provided.
Lather 101: Home Soapmaking
Learn to make bar soap using the cold process method. Well learn about different fats and oils you can use, techniques for measuring and mixing, how to safely work with sodium hydroxide (lye), options for molding and details of the curing process . Then we’ll walk through the process of making a batch of soap. Supply list provided ahead of time if you want to follow along and make your own batch at home. Handout and recipes provided.
DIY Facials from Your Kitchen: Exfoliate Steam Massage Mask Moisturize
We’ll end the day by learning how to prepare a DIY facial from fresh ingredients from the grocery store and give ourselves a mini-facial with a scrub, a steam and massage. Handout and recipes provided.
